hey all :D

I'm after some information. I currently rent number 14 Halifax Road in Briercliffe. I know it's a old house but I don't know how old. I know NO information on it at all. I don't know where to begin to look for all this information.

I want to know who has lived in here, if there have been any deaths in here (spooky going ons) etc etc

HELP!!

Thanks in advance

Cleza xx

P.S HI ALL

Hi Cleza, welcome to the forum. I hope you will be happy in your new home.

Your best bet would probably be the library. I've never done property research so not sure what you would need to view other than the census.

Can I be cheeky and ask for a pic of the outside of your house for the site please? Or is it already on?

You'll have to send it by email Cleza. I'll send you a PM with my email address. I thought I knew which house you live in but I was wrong so I don't think there is a picture of your house on the site. It doesn't need to be just your house, we don't want to single you out on the internet, perhaps your row....unless yours is detached!?

If it's an old house, there will almost certainly have been deaths there over the years. Most people died at home during the 19th and early 20 centuries.

Do you believe in ghosts and the like? Some people are sensitive to that sort of thing aren't they.

Can your house be seen on either of the above Cleza?

Hiya Cleza, Is it one of the small cottages in a row? I think they look lovely. There is one of the cottages with a date plaque on saying 1830, think they must have been weavers cottages at one time, welcome to the site by the way.

Voters' lists at the library would be useful for more recent years.
