Forgive the fact that this is not Briercliffe but I don't know old Burnley well at all and hope that someone will be able to answer my queries.

Where is 3 Lane Ends in Habergham Eaves?
Is Lane Ends, Hab. Eaves the same as Lane Ends where the Black Bull is?
Where is Lane Head, Hab. Eaves?
Where is Lane Bridge, Hab. Eaves?

OR - are they all the same place - changed over decades?

Fingers crossed for an answer cos it's driving me crackers!

Annie

Hi Annie,
Lane Head is where the Black Bull is. The Black Bull is approx 1mile towards Burnley from Haggate, another approx 2miles and you are in Burnley.
Habergham Eaves is on the other side of Burnley.

Thanks Gloria
I have Burial at St. Peters
Ellen Collinge on 15th December 1817, aged 5, of 3 Lane Ends, Habergham Eaves.
Also
Burial at St. Peters
Martha Collinge on 24th December 1817, aged 1, of 3 Lane Ends, Habergham Eaves

Thing is, I am not sure where the boundaries of HE are - Lane Ends to me is the Black Bull area but is that within Hab. Eaves?

The Black Bull that I know is in the Lane Head area on Marsden Rd. There is a Lane Ends area further along Marsden Rd towards Nelson at the bottom of Kings Causeway, that area is called Four Lane Ends. There are some very old cottages there at the top of the road down to Brierfield.
Habergham Eaves is roughly near the top of Manchester Rd going towards Rawtenstall. It is quite a sprawling area, which I think goes towards Rosegrove as well-----I know there is a Habergham school over that way.

I think I have found Lane Bridge
If you go into genuki, Habergham Eaves, mid 19th century maps. The first map to come up 1848, inside the red square, top right corner is Lane Bridge. A rough guess would put that under Centenary Way as it is now.
