Hi, there used to be Duerdens living up Kings Causeway, they had a large water cress business. They moved the business in the 80's I think, to Great Eccleston near Blackpool.

Mehetabel Duerden. Her Father John Duerden 1847-1910. His Father Thomas Duerden 1796-1861. As far as I know all this is correct.

Mehetabel. Favoured by God. Origin - Hebrew.
Mehetabel was the wife of Hadad, one of the kings of Edom.

Just found what who and what it means.

:D Hi there, I know the Duerdens who lived up King's Causway, two brothers ran the business, one brother, Eddie Duerden b. about 1907, lived on Reedley Drive until his death a few years ago. He had a wife Dorothy, he went to Walter St, School in Brierfield. They had Anne, now aged in late 60's,David, who continued the business which was now in Ormskirk, another son John now deceased, the youngest Christopher had the hairdressers opposite LLoyds Bank and married the owner of Sandra Frank , dress shop.

The other branch of the family also lived on Reedley Drive, as did David, they moved out to the Simonstone area.
This branch where twins and had twins.
Are these names familiar? Probably could find out more if needed.
