:? ER! I'm confusing everyone including myself now.
I was told that Tom was born at Lothersdale, the Horragate registrars rang me and said his birth was registered at Burnley.

So I now am begining to doubt the story as told and remembered by my father as he was only about 6 at the time. Will the place of residence be
be on the cert. even if they trailed back to Burnley to register him.

Was the cottage you referred to Gloria, opposite ' ish' to where you used to live? A well known local estate agent lived at the farm in mid 70s
and his parents lived in one of the cottages attached to it.

Hi Hannah, yes, the birth was registered at Burnley (I gave you the reference earlier), but I suppose the boy could still be born at Lothersdale.

If the family resided at Lothersdale, then there will definitely be an address listed.

Doesn’t Preston Library have all the Burnley Births, deaths and marriages on file? If so, you can view the cert for free.

Yes it was Hannah. The farm building was a large shippon with a loft above, it was connected to the cottage by an arch which went "through" the building, from back to front. We wanted to buy it to convert it, and knock the cottage into the archway, but couldn't get it. That would be in the early 70's, I think it was then renovated soon after we left it. The farm itself was down a short track past a white cottage, it had a walled yard, and ran sideways on to the drive. We really needed some land with it and that was one of the reasons we didn't pursue it too much.

Hi Hannah, the photos probably date from the 1920’s. I will post a link when Mel has added them.

Sorry for the delay. I aim to do an update this week. We had our pup 'done' on Friday and it's been a bit of battle to get her and Higgins to leave the wound alone as well as keep calm!

No problem Mel.

Did you receive the school photos I sent you last week?

Gloria, the Sunnybank pic is from 1923 and the others are from the 1890’s.

I've made a start Kris but they are not yet visible on the site.

Although the emails are titled 'Lanehead', I can't see a picture for Lanehead? Should there be one?

There is one Lane Head class photo from the 1890's. It's not a photo of the school building.

OK, I'll add what I have on these emails and then you can tell me what is missing.
