Gloria, just a thought...have you checked the MI's on the site. All Parker MI's are there. If a stone wasn't there when they were recorded then I doubt there is one. The odd one or two stones were missed but it seems to be if they were crumbling or illegible.

I have reckoned to have had a good look, but will do so again, just in case I had a senior moment and missed it.

So there was either no stone in the 1970's/1980's (whenever the MI's were recorded or it was in such a state that they walked on by.

I'm going to try to ring Roger again today (still not managed to speak to him).

The Leeds Mercury
Saturday August 16 1879

Mr Robert Townley Parker, of Cuerden Hall, near Preston, died on Monday evening. Mr Parker was the oldest magistrate of the county of Lancaster. He was the only son of Mr Thomas Townley Parker, of Cuerden and Extwistle, near Preston. the deceased gentleman was born on the 24th of August, 1792 and was consequently nearly 87 years old. His grandfather on the paternal side was for some time an alderman of Preston, and in 1762 was the Guild Mayor of that borough, a position held by the deceased himself just 100 years afterwards. Mr Parker was the representative of many old Lancashire families - the Parkers of Extwistle, the Townleys of royle, the Banastres of Bank, &c. In 1837 Mr. Parker was elected Member of Parliament for Preston in the Conservative interest; in 1852 he was re-elected; in 1857 he retired from the representation. In November 1861, he was returned to the town Council of Preston; in January 1862, he was made and alderman of that body; and during the latter portion of that year he was Guild Mayor,-indeed, he was admitted to the Council that he might have that honour.

Having another look at this Daniel Parker. He had a son called William born 13th Aug 1810, working on the principle of eldest son named after paternal grandfather I looked for a William Parker who would fit as his father.
From IGI
William Parker ch 25th Dec 1765 Burnley
Spouse Nancy
Marriage 1789 England.

William Parker
marriage 8th Feb 1789
Ann Whitehead Burnley

The 1841 census has one of Daniel's daughters called Nancy (she is actually Ann)

Again on IGI, I put in William Parker and Ann as parents and came up with one where it gives William Parker as father and Ann Whitehead as mother,
Mary Whitehead or Parker, christened 2nd Feb 1777 Worsthorne, Burnley.

I am wondering aloud, as to whether they had more children before marriage and one of those was a Daniel and he was christened Whitehead. They seemed to wait a long time to get married. I shall go to the records office next week to see what I can find on them.
Am I making sense?

I have a go at this every so often, usually after the meeting when I have my memory jogged by one of the members. It does seem odd that they waited so long to get married, but hey ho ????????questions questions.
Besides this on IGI there are 6 children father William Parker, mother Ann (Nanny), born from 1752-1773, all mother Nanny.
Robert 1752
Banister 19th Feb 1758
Henry 17th May 1761
Anne 1763
Parker 21st Sept 1770
Mary 30th May 1773
Thomas Dean, father William Parker, mother Nanny, born and died 1765.
Nelly Parker ch 19th sept 1740 Worsthorne, mother Ann.
Melly Parker ch 19th Sept 1790, mother Anne Robinson.

Headache----the only way to solve these is to look at the records office-----bigger headache.

To add to the headache I have from another source all those above with mother Nanny, as father William Parker and mother Mary Hitchon, and her death as 1770. William Parker then marries again to Susannah Whitham in 1773. William Parker and Mary Hitchon (from Arthur Parker family tree) have sons William born 1752 and 1765, I think the first one would have died, and the second one to be the husband of Ann (Nanny) and father of my Daniel. What has been added to IGI looks to be wrong. Is there not an emoticon for headache?????

:? Not quite a headache but maybe fits the bill?!

You can tell on the IGI which were member submitted and which are from the original records. Not that it guarantees that they are right though!!

I have only found one record from the IGI originals records to be wrong, and even then it was only the date...month and year were right.

Big headache  Couldn't find Daniel Parker/Whitehead, in Burnley St Peters between 1778 and 1809 when he married. Tried St Barts at Colne, as he seems to be born too early for anywhere else.
I did find on 2nd feb 1777 baptism of Mary base daughter of Ann Whithead and William Parker both of Worsthorne at St Peters.
I found a christening of a William Parker 25th Dec 1765 Burnley.
Chr of Nancy Whitehead 16th May 1762 Burnley, father John Whitehead.
Chr of Ann Whitehead 16th April 1758 Burnley, father John Whitehead of Worsthorne.
Should have looked to see if the first Nancy/Ann died.
I looked for their marriage of which there were two on IGI
Nancy 1789 England
Ann Whitehead 8th Feb 1789 Burnley
Neither were in St Peters.
