Today I suddenly remembered Peter Black, who was the Harle Syke "Bobby" for many years. Him and My Father were good friends, so much so that I got many a good talking too from PC Black. There must be many stories out there that Peter was part of. He had two chilren, both attended Haggate school. I wonder what happened to them?
For sure Peter Black was a well respected man in Briercliffe

My husband has mentioned Peter Black, I will ask him when he gets home.
I think Mrs Black (his wife) used to live in one of the bungalows or semis on the right just before Douglas Rd, he probably did as well but I don't remember him.

Hello, I am Peter Blacks son, Sandy, my sister Eveline & I went to haggate school, although we have an older sister & brother(d'ced) Lucy & William who also went to haggate school, so not sure which of us you remember.
I married & lived in Sheffield from 1969-2000, we now live in Cowling & have a B&B.
Do you remember Jack Proctor? he lives in Canada now & visits us.
We lived at Finsley View just below Douglas Rd.

My late Uncle Bill (William) was Peter Black`s son, Uncle Bill was married to my fathers sister. When I was young I remember visiting Peter`s wife and she did indeed live in one of the bungalows on the right hand side opposite the bowling green. Only found this website a couple of days ago and already found two prominent people in my wider family tree, all Interesting stuff!!
