Hi Gloria and other descendants of James Kippax and Susan Nutter. I've just been looking ay the OPC and found a baptism of a Susan Nutter, father Guilelmi ( William ) at Newchurch in Pendle on Feb 23rd 1728/29. I know that is ten years out from your estimated date of her birth, but what do you think? Maybe you've already found her baptism elsewhere.

Hi Gill, thanks for looking. I despair of these "Nutters" there are so many of them
As you can see from the Church Records on the Home Page there are quite a few Susan Nutters, one of which was baptised 10th March 1737, father John (of Hollingreave Burnley), at St Bartholomews, Colne. The Hollingreave, Burnley could, with a bit of a stretch of the imagination, be Hollingrove, which is Briercliffe. I wouldn't have thought they would have gone to Colne from Burnley, more likely St Peters, but then again Susan and James were married at St Peters. Also their 2nd eldest son was called John, which adds a bit more credence to it. I think this is the more likely baptism, but I haven't really looked into it any more for a while-----so you have re-awakened my interest in her.
I have another Nutter ---Mary born 1792 Briercliffe, her parents were John Nutter and Susan ( possibly Kippax) -----Susan is the daughter of Robert Kippax, brother of James Kippax, Susan Nutters husband.-----Now you see why I despair of them-----

Hi again, I think it's highly likely that you've found the correct Susan Nutter. Hollingreave is very likely Hollin Grove. Do you have a burial for her? That might confirm the date.

Gill and I have come up with the following which we think is highly probable.
Susan Nutter baptised 10-3-1737 St Bartholomews, Colne, was the daughter of John and Elizabeth married 15-4-1735 St. Bartholomews, Colne. John Nutter was born on 24th October 1708. He had a brother James born 9 August 1713. Both of them were born at Monk Hall.
On Susan's baptism it only gives father's name, no name for mother. As far as I could see there is only one John Nutter who could be her father and he married Elizabeth Berry (see Annie's family tree on the home page).
Susan Nutter married James Kippax 28th June 1760 at St Peters, Burnley. They had five children, all barring Joshua shared the same names as John and Elizabeth Nutter and their children.
