So if a separate swab is needed for a maternal line, what happens when it reaches grandparents? The line splits again then...which way will the swab result go?

I don't think I'll bother.

The test follows either the paternal or maternal line, so it would be father, father’s father etc or Mother, Mother’s Mother etc.

Watch those videos Mel!

Don't think you can do that Mel. At least not without it costing a lot.

No, I am getting that impression. The results will not go down the line I am really interested in either unfortunately.

They are very interesting but now I am left wondering what the point of the DNA test is if, as suggested, it all begins in Africa?

Anyone watching these snippets should set aside a couple of hours. Each clip is approximately 10 minutes long.

Maybe everyone in Briercliffe should take a test. It would probably prove what we all think anyway!

I just watched it - it was very interesting. But would I not be right in thinking Kris that if we all had the same test as you the chances are very high that it would just show the same genetic journey?

I’m not sure Portia. As you know the British are made up of many different people, early Britons, Romans, Vikings and so many others, so probably not.

Dr. Spencer Wells talks about the Genographic project here http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0 ... media.html (Launch video)

Mel, if you watch the video Dr. Wells mentions family tree DNA research and how it differs from the Genoproject. I think this would be more of interest to you http://www.familytreedna.co.uk/
