Harle Syke Octogenarian

The death occurred at the Primrose Bank Institution, Burnley, last Thursday, of Mr. Daniel Tattersall, of 24, Talbot-street, Harle Syke. He was 83 years of age, and had enjoyed comparatively good health until quite recently. Taken ill about a month ago, he was admitted to the Sanatorium, Marsden-road, and two weeks later removed to Primrose Bank.
A native of Burnley he had been employed for the greater part of his life as a loomer and twister at Richard Stuttard's Mill, retiring at the age of 72. He was keenly interested in poultry-keeping.
A popular figure in the Lanehead district, where he resided prior to going to Briercliffe five years ago, Mr. Tattersall was one of the pioneers at the inauguration of the Lanehead Working Men's Club, where he was a regular member. He leaves three sons and four daughters, with 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral took place last Monday in the Haggate Baptist burial Ground. Mr. Fred Pickles offered prayers at the house, and Mr. W.E. Thornber officiated at the chapel and the graveside.
The Lanehead Working Men's Club was represented at the funeral by two of its oldest members in Messrs. Julian and Thomas Lacy.
Floral tributes were sent by: Esther, Tom and Billy; Mary and Bob; Elizabeth, Jack and Harry; William, Edith, Harold and May; Mr. and Mrs. Crabtree; Jim, Peggy, Eva, Albert and Billy; Tom, Margaret and family; Emily and Arthur; Wright, Lily, Jean and Mavis; Bibus, Herbert, Brian and June; Jane, Phoebe and Bertha; Fred, Ada, and Thora; the committee and members of the Lanehead Working Men's Club; Alice and little Fred; all at 17, Romford-street; J. Lacy; his old pal, Bob; Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Brierley; all at Lawson's Farm; Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd and Wilmett. Arrangements by the Burnley Co-op Socy., Ltd.
