Rent a villa in Spain or Tuscany for a winter and have lots of interesting visitors to cook together and drink local wines (you're all invited!)

Travel in a motorhome from one Habitat for Humanity site to another for 6 months..helping out and meeting like-minded folk.

Your wish to visit Briercliffe struck a chord with me.
I have ancestors from Briercliffe and a long lost cousin who lives there.
With my wife's blessing I planned a Grand Genealogical Tour of England just exactly one year ago.
I planned the visit well and was kindly invited to stay with a few email friends who have a common interest in our surname.
My plan took in addresses, homes, churches and cemeteries in Kent, Gloucestershire, Shropshire, the Wirral, Cheshire, Liverpool, Lancashire & Yorkshire.
So, armed with memory sticks, a long list of addresses, a digital camera and my credit card I set off to England from Mexico where I live.
I had the time of my life! I found many gravestones of my ancestors and saw the little houses where they lived and died.
I was wonderfully well received and my Briercliffe cousin and her husband were so kind to me.
Briercliffe is lovely and the surrounding countryside (the mosses) impressive. The people were all so friendly and I live on my memories.
That was my bucket list.
So Suzycue44, as the saying goes.........JUST DO IT.

Yes. Well I have to clarify that I was, in fact raised in Manchester, and spent all my school holidays and spare time at my grandparent's home in Harle Syke, Briercliffe. My parents moved homes several times through those years, but my Grandparents were in that same little house on that same little street...and I have very clear and fond memories...feels like 'home' to me.
Much hasn't changed......although many new houses have been built around the core of the village!
I last visited about 15 years ago.....on a visit to my parents we took a drive down memory lane.....
But..I will visit again...and stay a while...and meet some of these fabulous people on this website of whom I am very fond!
Thanks for your encouragement.....hey, perhaps I will see you on a visit to Mexico one of these days???

I'm assuming you saw the Bather Boy's photos in the archives? These photos were among many in my dad's collection which I sent to be kept on this website. There are several pictures....and my father remembers Jimmy quite well, altho Jimmy was a bit older than my dad (who is now 92).

Yes Suzy, I have thoses photos carefully downloaded to my files--thanks to you.
Does your dad remember any interesting tidbits or anecdotes about Jimmy?

I've decided I want to do 40 things for my 40th next year (most will probably be in my 40's rather than for my 40th!) and thought about this topic. I've a fair few to come up with yet!

Eat at Pecks (a local posh resaurant)
Breakfast in bed (I'm always 1st up, this could prove to be more difficult than it sounds!)
Learn to ski
Get in the car with dogs and a picnic (& hubby if he wants tojoin us!), and just drive
Choose a DIY project for home that I've never done before
Fly a kite
Learn to ride a motorbike/trike
Take part in a flash mob
See the Northern lights

And you are going to be big 40yo--you are getting nearer to me--I am only 47yo and have a big nose to prove it

lol! I am only just 39 but I believe in planning ahead

Another one to the list, I want to paddle (as in barefoot in the sea) around the UK...not the entire distance but to dip a toe at various points.

Lyndon has told me there is one on the list I cannot do....he won't allow it! The motorbike! Maybe I should change it to trike? He'd be OK with that
