Does anyone have access to Trade Directories which might cover the above circa 1920s please. I was told that Thomas Ingham of Disraeli St. Burnley (which I think may have been Brierfield) owned or worked a small pit in the 1920s. I do have a photograph of my grandfather Louis Walker with a crowd of who I take to be workers also at the pithead. I would be grateful for more information on this please if possible. Tom Ingham was my grandfather's step-father.

Disraeli St runs from Colne Rd through to Barden Lane in the Queengate area of Burnley. There would have been quite a lot of pits in that area----Barden Lane, Bank Hall, to name the large ones.

Unfortunately Colne library does not hold copies of the Burnley Barrett trade directory for this period. However, I've been told that the Nelson library holds all the copies on microfiche. I assume that Burnley will have hard copies I hope this helps.

Burnley library has three Barrett's directories over this period. 1914. 1923. 1927.
The 1914 does not record a Disraeli St. I assume it hasn't been built.
The 1923 has Thos Ingham 62 Disraeli St. (no occupation listed). There are no T Ingham's listed in the trade section.
The 1927 has a A Wood at 62 Disraeli St. (occ: weaver)
Disraeli St is just an ordinary street full of ordinary people,try Google maps.
