welcome to the site. My husband is a Greenwood but not originally from this area sadly.
If you look at the front page under church records, put Greenwood in births there is a Moses Greenwood born 22nd Feb 1829, parents John and Martha of High Sim.

Thanks for the reply but that Moses Greenwood is too early, since posting the request I have found the names of his parents and siblings but any information about this side of the family will be very welcome!
Mother Ann. father John,sisters Ann,Sarah, Ellen and Mary, brother James.

P.S. Think the Briercliffe Society information and forum is great, I come from Harle Syke and spent my first year at school at Haggate School we moved to Bolton when I was 5 where I still live but still have relatives in Harle Syke.

Carol, the Moses I found has the same date of birth as the one you gave----or am I missing something here??

Sorry forgot to say that the date of birth was wrong Moses Greenwood is my great grandfather and his year of birth will be 1857 he died April 7th 1925 age 68 years my grandfather was John Thomas Greenwood his son and lived at 49 Burnley Road.

Taking age at death from year he died which is on his grave stone which is at Haggate also fits with the census.
