We are going to have a slightly new look website in the New Year :D Most of the changes will be in the admin section to make things quicker and easier for me but there will also be a few visible changes. We only started on it yesterday and it will be a long job due to the amount of pages (4325 to be exact  ) and information this site has.

If anyone has any suggestions for new pages/sections or improvements to existing ones, now is the time to put them forward. I'm told the photo archive will work better and I am hoping the Newsletter section will be better. I want to add the Newsletters as pdf's instead of the current way of transcribing them all.

It all works fine for me. Will the changes be as big as those on oneguy? I never found that the same :? Still everything has to move forward.

The forum won't change, the main site navigation shouldn't either. For the most part, it will be the admin that differs. If regular users are not keen on something that is altered, we will look to revert back to the former method. If it's not broken, why fix it 8)
I agree about og. I found that really difficult to navigate after the changes, to the point that I can't be bothered to try to get used to it. I don't want that to be the case here.

When you get to my age Mel even changing the time on your watch is a big deal.
This works fine for me so for my part I'd say leave it where it is.

I need the changes to the admin section. We use an outdated system and it will make things quicker and more simple for me. I will be on to the same system as Adventure Tots.

I have queried a little more....we will have a slighter wider screen than the current one. Changing the home page image will be easier, I will be able to use a selection of images (only 4 or 5) that will rotate at an interval specified by me. I think he said we will also have the latest diary event showing on the home page as a reminder.

The only other noticeable change will be to the photo archive. We've never liked the long pages (e.g. Burnley Street Scenes). This is the one that I'm going to be watching closely though.

I get to see how all this will work before any of it is released live. I don't like change either (stopped using another site for that reason), if I think it is too extreme then I will request (stamp my feet and scream  ) on going back to basics.

The forum is something that is beyond our control. It was an 'add-on' thing created by a someone else. We cannot change the way that works. I only hope that the creators never change their format on any of the updates they do.

That doesn't sound too scary for us old ones. I was afeared we might be going the same way as One Guy.

As one who stopped using OG, I will definitely not be going down that route

Well, it's been quite a while since discussions and work started on the 'new' site. They stopped quite rapidly due to hubby being snowed under and then suffering a few minor health issues that, while not life threatening, did affect his stamina and daily life. All sorted now I am happy to say and work has begun once more on the new look site. Again, the biggest change will be the editor for me. We will possibly go for a partial release when I think I have managed to transfer enough info to make it work.

Watch this space....

:D
