i'm afraid i need a little bit of help, after looking all the records... i found my family...
im descendant of William Whitaker who is seems born in 1838 aprox because 39 years later he was at the baptism of my great-great-grandmother Mary Jane Whitaker in 1877 in Argentina.

his wife.... Eliza Platt (40 year old in 1877)

First Son called John William (born in 1860 aprox, he was 9 in the census of '69)
1st daughter Isabel Ana (Elizabeth Ann, had 7 years in the 1869 census)
2nd Son ..Asten (aprox birth date 1864)
-----from here i found the baptism records in Argentina for the following family ---
2nd Daughter Alice ( born 1869)
a 3rd son, George (born in 1872)
a 3rd daughter (my relative) Mary Jane (born in 23/06/1877)

we don't know yet anything about Astin/Asten/Austin... where he had born we just know that he was 5 year old in the Census of 1869 in Argentina. but not just Astin, we want to know if its possible where had they born... (its clear that 2 girls and George had born in Argentina, cause we dont have the baptism of Elizabet Ann, Astin and his elder brother John William)...so could be that they came into Argentina around the years 1864 and 1869!!? how can i see there's any record?

and if they returned to England... and also... more exciting... will be know as much as possible from which Whitaker branch we come from in England... i just have a songbook from Lancashire...

Thanks for read,

Cheers.

Hello,

If you search http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk there are the following births registered in the sub district of Accrington, Lancashire:

John William Whitaker 1860 mother maiden name shown as Platt.
Elizabeth Ann Whitaker 1862 mothers maiden name shown as Platt.
Astin Whitaker 1864 mothers maiden name shown as Platt.

On the same site there is also the marriage of an Eliza Platt to William Whittaker in 1859 at Hyndburn Register Office or a Registrar attended ceremony.

Kind regards,
Mo

This would appear to be William and Eliza on the 1861 census:

4 Lune`s Court, Accrington, Lancashire
William Whittaker, Head, Married, 22, Blacksmith, born Lancashire Accrington
Eliza Whittaker, Wife, Married, 23, born Lancashire Manchester
John W Whittaker, Son, 11 months, born Accrington

Kind regards,
Mo

The only William Whitaker birth I can find in Accrington 1838/1839 is in 1838 - mother's maiden name Pickup.

From the Lancashire OPC site, I got the following:
Baptisms: 19 Aug 1838 St James, Accrington, Lanca
shire, England
William Whitaker - Son of William Whitaker & Betty
Born: 19 Jul
Abode: Grange
Occupation: Printer
Baptised by: J. Hopwood

Marriage: 25 May 1829 St James, Accrington, Lancashire, England
William Whitaker - (X), of Accrington
Betty Pickup - (X), of Accrington
Witness: Titus Welch; James Anderton
Married by Banns by: Jno. Hopwood Minister
Register: Marriages 1829 - 1837, Page 2, Entry 6

If this is the right family, then this would appear to be them in 1851

William Whitaker 42 head, coal dealer
Betty Whitaker 41 wife
Children:
Peter Whitaker 22
Ellen Whitaker 19
John Whitaker 17
James Whitaker 15
William Whitaker 13
Allias Whitaker 11
Thomas Whitaker 8
Haston Whitaker 6
Pickup Whitaker 4
lodger:
John Wilkinson 21

All were born Accrington, apart from Betty who shows herself as born Wissell. I would guess this is likely to be Wiswell (pron Wizzel) which is near Whalley.

There are 2 possibilities for Betty's baptism, but I would favour the second as being nearer to her declared age on the census and also was at Whalley parish chuch.

Baptisms: 4 Dec 1808 St James, Accrington, Lancashire, England
Betty Pickup - Daughter of George Pickup & Betty
Born: 15 Nov 1808
Abode: Accrington

Baptisms: 3 Sep 1809 St Mary and All Saints, Whalley, Lancashire, England
Elizabeth Pickup - Daughter of Ellen Pickup
Abode: Wiswell
Notes: Illegitimate

On the 1861 census, William (snr) shows himself as being 53. there's a baptism in 1807 which may or may not be him.

Baptism: 15 Nov 1807 St James, Accrington, Lancashire, England
William Whitaker - Son of John Whitaker & Alice
Born: 22 Oct 1807
Abode: Accrington

Hope this helps.
ps You're fortunate in that Accrington and Whalley parish churches are old and many of the registers have been transcribed. If you haven't already tried it, have a look at http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/
