James Procter has sent this query, does anyone have the Bennetts books please, I don't have access to mine at the moment.

I used to be a member of the site some years ago.My present query involves a Wade Procter born 1821 in Haggate.I believe that he is mentioned in Bennetts book of Burnley regarding the Chartist riots in 1848 and the making of a pike by a local blacksmith. Can you please help?

I can't find it, that's not to say it isn't there. I looked in the index for Wade Proctor and also looked through the articles on the chartists, but could find no reference---sorry.

I think you may have got the name wrong.
The occasion you may be thinking about was a charge of convening an illegal meeting "seditious language, carrying pistols, swords, pikes and staves: The accused were John Knight, John Anderson, William Fletcher, John Bury, Nathan Broadhurst, George Dewhurst,. John Stevenson. John Astin and James Wade The blacksmiths accused of making the pikes were John Knowles and James Morris.
I hope this helps.
