Anyone with any info re HARTLEY STUTTARD - 1895 - 1959 - playing football. I know he played with his brother Ben in Briercliffe was always led to believe he was going to be a professional footballer but injury stopped his career. Also any suggestions as to any local sites that might be helpful. Have looked in local paper but they tend to give surname only and as there were quite a few Stuttards in the area not able to identify them.

I'll contact Roger Frost and ask if there is anything in the Society photo collection. I know there are some sports teams but I don't know if names are given. I probably won't be able to do this before the weekend as he has a virus on his computer and so my email may go missing.
Please remind me on Friday, I have a memory like a sieve. Post on this topic and I will see the reminder and what it is I need to ask!

My husband is pretty sure Hartley Stuttard was a sidesman at St James, Briercliffe.

Are you in the Burnley area? I wonder if the library may be able to help you could email them if you are not. They have an incomplete Newspaper index. I wonder if Hartley Stuttard was mentioned in the press and made it to the index?

No not in the area. Any burnley papers I have seen on line only tend to say Stuttard in their team line ups and their match write ups. Will try e mail as you suggest. Have you the email address please. Thanks
