We have had mention of this site elsewhere but I thought it worth giving another plug. They are doing updates almost daily.

http://www.lan-opc.org.uk/

OnLine Parish Clerks for the County of Lancashire.

This site aims to extract and preserve the records from the various parishes and to provide online access to that data, FREE of charge, along with other data of value to family and local historians conducting research in the County of Lancashire. An OnLine Parish Clerk should not be confused with Parish Clerks, who work for parish or town councils.

Just a reminder for forum members old and new. Lancashire Online Parish Clerk is a fantastic resource. It's by no means complete but there are thousands of records on there from all across the county. Burnley and surrounding area is very well represented. Take a look, they are updating constantly. Link is further up the topic.

I use this a lot and you don't half miss it (and Lancs BMD) when I have to search other counties. I think we're pretty well served hereabouts.

Very well served! I wish Staffordshire had as much....even half as much would be better than the current situation.
I'd love to volunteer for local (Staffs) projects but just don't have the time at the moment. :(

Just a gentle reminder as to the existence of this site. Lan-OPC update the database regularly and have added loads more records for Burnley and surrounds in recent months. I've managed to add a few new additions, marry a few off and also bury a few over the last couple of weekends.

Haven't been on there for a while, might have a look and see if I can dig up my Samuel Lockett------ perhaps we oughtn't to go back down that route again  I think we had decided he was in the bottom of the canal.
