Anyone tried the new Family Search website?

Is it any better than the previous updated version ?

Got to ask as I havn't got in yet, apparently I need to register and wait till I'm accepted????

My college exams were easier than this website from America , but maybe, WHEN! they let me in, it might be an improvement on the last one or am I being cynical

I was already registered so have been able to sign in and take a look.
I haven't done any searches but my initial thoughts are that they are trying to tap into the social networking craze.
Didn't like the last update. Like this one even less.

Searching for lost relatives? Win the Lottery!

Over the last year or so, I have been in the habit of obtaining some cost-free births, marriages and deaths information from the FamilySearch website without registering.

Last week I was initially thrown by the newly designed home page which seems to suggest that it is now necessary to register and therefore pay to get any information.

In fact, if you look along the top line of the new FamilySearch home page, you will see 'Family Tree' 'Photos' and 'Search'. If you click on 'Search' there is still cost-free access to the births, marriages and deaths information that could be accessed before the redesign. Obviously this information is not comprehensive but it is sometimes a good alternative to Ancestry (which I do subscribe to).

Thank you both, wonder why they keep improving it???? and find less and less people are using it, and why do they need our personal details, we are British, we don't do it that way
