What I do like about the Ancestry search is the shortcut buttons, like being able to press 'r' to refine a search.

Index to Alien registration records

Ancestry.com has just published an Index to Alien registration records for 350,000 people born before 1909 who were in process between 1944 and 2003.
So if you have any folks in your database who disappear from sight, it might be worth checking to see if they ended up in America.
In many cases the index records contain the date of birth, making identification relatively easy. To find the database go to the Card Catalog and search for Alien. Then look at the last, most recent item. Enter your name of interest and off you go.

1911 Census free on Ancestry till October
The England & Wales 1911 Census will be available to search for free from 00:00 on 24th July 2013 until 23:59 on 14th October 2013. To view these records you will need to register for free with Ancestry.co.uk with your name and email address.
