One of the problems in quoting so many names of interest is that its very difficult to home in on the particular family line that you are looking for.

Starting with an easy one. Whitaker of Cliviger. I assume you mean Whitaker of Holme. A good outline can be found in. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.anc ... amily.html

Also Whitaker's History of Whalley gives a pedigree.

Let me know how you go on.

I haven't yet linked my Edmund and Mary Whitaker of Cliviger (m.1760 Burnley) with the Whitakers of Holme, but there may be a link. As always I need to do more research.

I'm descended from Henry Todd, born 1794, through his son, John, born 1816 in Briercliffe. Does this have any connection with your Todd family?

Joan,

Your message has prompted a major overhall of my Todd research, especially using the brilliant Lancashire Online Parish Clerks website.
I believe my ancestor James Hargreaves is the one who married Anne Todd in 1765 Burnley St Peter. They were both from Briercliffe.
The only suitable Ann(e) baptism I can find is one to father John Todd in Newchurch-in-Pendle in 1741.
That John may be the one at Briercliffe / Lane House Farm earlier and later.

I see your Henry bap 1794 had a father and grandfather both Henry, but I cannot yet see a connection of the latter with my? John Todd.

That's the current state of my research. There is a good genealogical picture for Todds 1750-1800, as there are not many of them, in contrast to Hargreaves!

Julian
