Not wishing to offend any Haggaters', but not much usually gets past them?

Were the vehicles mistaken for workers on the graveyard?

I've inherited a rather nice postcard of the interior of Haggate Baptist Chapel (pen & ink drawing, then coloured) postmarked 28 Mar 1906 which deserves a larger audience if someone can remind me how to get it put on this site.

It was sent by someone caller Dora at 13 Kimberley Street, Harle Syke to my relative Mary Ann Bannister (who is mentioned elsewhere on here who became a missionary) while convalescing at the Convalescent Hospital Bathing Infirmary at Southport. (Enjoying a seawater cure no doubt)

I've just sent it to the email address I had for you back in 2008, so if there's nothing in your inbox let me know!

It's been put away for over 100 years unlooked at so a few more days won't matter Mel.

What a super post card - great to see, even though what I used to think was my link to the chapel proved to be a false trail! Thank you both.

Bus Accident

About 10-30 last Tuesday night as a single-decker 'bus, owned by the Joint Transport Board, was drawn to its near-side to allow the passage of a provate car it collided with the gate-post of Haggate Baptist Churchyard, which abruptly adjoins the highway. The stone pillar, about 15 inches square and over six feet high, was broken completely through near to the base, and the 'bus was slightly damaged, some windows being broken. The gate-post forms part ofa memorial gateway erected in 1926 to commemorate the diamond jubilee of the church.
