Does anyone know if the church records for the above villages are available online? I've had a look on Lancashire Online Parish Clerk and cannot find them there though I suspect they are really in West Yorkshire.

Having exhausted all other known possibilities, I'm hoping that the baptisms I am hunting for may have taken place at one of the above. The family lived in Barrowford and also Blacko.

Mel,

put the same query on oneguy, Wendyf seems very knowledgeable about what records are where. Would have thought they would have been Lancashire though.

What names and dates are we talking about, Barrowford and Blacko I would have thought would have used Colne, or they may be in the Peter Walkden diary which I have and can look in.

Late 1780ish through to about 1840. I've drawn a blank with Colne. Most of my lot seemed to use the Particular Baptist but I am missing a few. I've attached a male (& his family) in to my lot and didnt make a note as to my reasons. (stupid girl! ) I can find nothing in my files that might point to why and I do not have baptisms for any of what are currently classed as his siblings. I must have stumbled on something at some point that made me do it. I am wondering if it was the Doreen Crowther collection but due to other events this morning, haven't had chance to check the images I took of the collection a couple of years ago.
Last night I started thinking that they might have gone to Gisburn or Foulridge - not that far in the grand scheme of things. They are of course Sutcliffes and it is the children of Barnard and Sally, they married 1804.
Frustrating!

There are no Sutcliffes in the Peter Walkden's Diary.
In family search there is a christening the following
Bernard Sutcliffe on 11th March 1764 at St Bartholomews, Colne. Parents Bernard and Anne.
Bernard Sutcliffe on 6th Dec 1783 at Particular Baptist, Colne. Parents Joseph and Nancy.
Barned (their spelling) Sutcliffe 1764 Colne BTS. Parents Barned (their spelling) and Anne.
Marriage which is probably the one you have
Bernard Sutcliffe on 28th July 1804 Colne Bts to Sally Dyson

Foulridge a township of Colne chapelry, it had its own church from 1905.

Gisburn over the border, a parish.

PS

Barrowford originally known as Barrowford Booth, being in the forest of Pendle ; effectively a township, with its own overseers etc. In Colne chapelry however, not Newchurch in Pendle.

Blacko not a township, just a place in Barrowford, albeit of village size latterly.

Thanks Rex. Foulridge isn't an option then - I thought there was an older church there.

Just trying to exhaust all possibilities. On census records they give birthplaces mostly as Barrowford but also Blacko for the youngest.

Of course, something I need to bear in mind - the online records are not necessarily complete, even though I am using several different sites to access them.

Hoping to get chance to find my Doreen Crowther info today.

It is but I suspect there are others I am missing which is why the years I am interested in spanning more than just the years his children were born. And I still haven't had chance to look for Doreens papers!

Hi Mel,
Have you considered Barnoldswick as a possible. I found one hidden there, or rather Colne library found them. Gill
