Does anyone know a good site where one can discover others that may be researching the same families? I am looking for GREENWOOD family researchers.

The message boards are the obvious places Glenys. Rootsweb and ancestry.com are the main ones I think. There is also the Genesreunited site. If you add your file then it gives you 'hotmatches' once a fortnight. These may or may not prove to be accurate. I have more misses than hits with that site but it can be useful.

Yes Thanks Mel I've tried those but no luck so far. There doesn't seem to be anyone else searching for my Greenwoods at the moment.
Patience!

Are any of your Greenwoods from the Earby/ Barlick area? My son's partner's mother is from the Greenwood line & says they've lived there for several generations. I know she has an interest in family history but hasn't done much about it up to yet. If you think there's anything she might help with I could always ask her.

Portia,, thankyou for your reply. My Greenwoods are from the Great Marsden (Nelson) area. Mother: Betty, Son: Jonathan and Daughter: Sarah.

David, thankyou so much for the sites you posted here. I had a look but so far nothing on my particular Greenwood Family. I appreciate you posting the links though.

Hi Portia, the dates I have are following:

Betty Greenwood Est birth Year 1802 born Marsden Lancs

Janathan (Jonathan) Greenwood Son Est birth Year 1824 born Marsden Lancs

Sarah Greenwood Daughter Est birth Year 1832 born Marsden Lancs

I have them on the 1841 at Pinfould where there is also a HenryGreenwood. He is 20 years old and presumably a Son. Betty is 40, Jonathan ? and Sarah 9.
Betty is a cotton weaver but the 1841 shows no 'condition'. Presumably she is Widowed.

On 1851 there is a condition column and Betty is 'W'

David, Yes I saw that grave ...I can't see any connections yet! The Greenwoods were and are many!

Thanks for looking though
