A friend of mine here, 200 miles from Burnley, but from Burnley like me, came out with 'witchhered' (witchert) = wet through, the sort of word you need in Burnley's weather. Actually he's from Simonstone, but that's near enough.

Thanks, Rex and whoever reads this. Witchert etc. it’s a corruption of ‘wet shod’. So, your footwear is totally sodden!
