Will that be the same John Bentley who goes to the meetings? I know he has written a few books. He is also jt president of the Briercliffe Society see The Committee on the home page.

I think it must be. I have put it on the military thread and Portia seems to know him. He lives at Haggate doesn't he?

He lives at Corrin House ( I think it is called that ), the one with the clock on it just past the Hare and Hounds on the opposite side.
I have rung Roger and left a message suggesting they bring some of their books to sell.

Yes ladies you are correct.John's wife Carole is a talented amateur artist and a member of the Briercliffe Arts and crafts Society. She painted a lovely water colour of the cottages where I live for me a few years ago.

I think that Mel may have a list but she was not sure if the prices were up to date.Am sure that Mel will update you when she sees the post. Am sure that Gloria and Portia will also raise the question at the next meting at the end of the month.

I read most of Roger Frost's book, (a Burnley library copy), during the week I was there. It's too bad it's out of print. It would be good to know what else is available.

I was given a list by the membership secretary over a year ago. I haven't published it as I don't know if the prices are current and Roger told me they have very little stock of books. I didn't see the point of advertising books that are quite possibly no longer available.

Ben was the brother of my grandad HARTLEY and I am desperate to find an early photo of him. Was he on the wedding photo of Ben? According to the info I have curtesy of Geoff Stuttard who has researched the |Stuttard familly in great detail, Ben served in the Cameronian Highlanders 10th Scottish Riffles and lost his right arm in 1917. He was a warehouseman at Mason west and Bather cotton mills. Hedied in 1944 and is buried in St James churchyard Briercliffe.
