I have been researching my ancestors in the Kippax family of Burnley and have managed to trace the graves of over 20 ancestors buried in Burnley Cemetery by first searching for the Kippax name on cemsearch.co.uk and then emailing bereavementservices@burnley.gov.uk who were extremely helpful providing grave numbers, names and dates.
I thought this information might be useful to anyone else researching their family history in Lancashire and in particular in Burnley.

Thanks help!!!!! and welcome to the site.
I have used cemsearch myself in the past. I bought a Sutcliffe report from them. It only cost £6, quite reasonable when you consider what it would cost me to travel there (from Staffordshire) to view the graves for myself.

For anyone not aware, http://www.cemsearch.co.uk/ have spent the last few years transcribing the headstones in various graveyards around Lancashire. A search of their site is free and will tell you how many of your chosen name were buried in your chosen graveyard and how much it will cost to buy the report. The cost of the report depends on the popularity of the surname in that particular graveyard. Please note, these are MI's not burial records.

Hi Help !!!!
I have loads of the Kippax family from the Briercliffe area of Burnley. My lot come down from James who died 1769, he had amongst others Joshua born 1769. Do you connect with this line?

Hi Gloria,

Yes, I too am descended from James Kippax who died in 1769. He was my 6th Great Grandfather. My line is from his son John (Joshua's brother) born 1767, so I guess we must be cousins!

Help!!!!!

Hi Gloria,

I have had a look at your tree - well done! - and I have also been keeping an eye on the posts relating to James Kippax (d 1769) as I don't have any information further back than him. Sorry I can't help.

Help

I have an idea of his ancestors but no real proof, other than I cannot find any other person his father can be. I keep hoping to come across someone who has some more info.
Where abouts are you from ?
