Mel, last week we spoke about William Whitaker marrying Elizabeth Sutcliffe, 1877, http://briercliffesociety.co.uk/talkbac ... 9&start=15

I don’t know if this is a coincidence but William’s Brother Rennie was living at the same address as this Sutcliffe.

1920 – WHITAKER Rennie of 35 Duke street, Harle Syke, Lancashire died 3 April 1920. Administration Lancaster 25 June to Mary Alice Whitaker, widow. Effects £260

1948 – SUTCLIFFE Alice Ann of 35 Duke Street, Briercliffe near Burnley (wife of Richard Sutcliffe) died 5 July 1948. Administration London, 23 December to the said Richard Sutcliffe, retired engine tenter. Effects £504

This is the last Will of me Thomas Sutcliffe of Burnley in the County of Lancaster Joiner I direct all my debts funeral and testamentary expenses to be paid as soon as convenient after my decease I give devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto my three sons James Henry and Sutcliffe. Upon trust to divide the same equally amongst my children namely the said James Henry and Sutcliffe and Betty Joseph Sarah and Thomas share and share alike as tenants in common. I appoint my said three sons James Henry and Sutcliffe Executors of this my will. In witness whereof I have to this my last Will set my hand this eighteenth day of March one thousand eight hundred and seventy eight

Signed and acknowledged by the said Thomas Sutcliffe the testator as and for his last Will in the presence of us present who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses

This is the last Will and Testament of one Henry Sutcliffe
of Barrowford in the County of Lancaster Shopkeeper I give to my wife Ann or Nanny the sum of five shillings per week with the privilige of remaining in the house where I reside as long as she lives rent free and that she have the entire use of the furniturein the house her life and after her death be sold and the money go towards paying off the mortgage which is on my property I also give to my son Thomas Sutcliffe and his heirs for ever my share of property at High Town in the Township of Heptonstall but for him to receive no benefit from it intill the mortgage of my other property to be cleared off I also divide my remaining property into five equal shares viz: one fifth to my son Thomas Sutcliffe of Burnley and his heirs for ever One fifth to my daughter Mary the wife of William Nutter of Barrowford and her heirs for ever One fifth to my daughter Jane or Jenny the wife of Jonathan Catlow of Barrowford and her heirs for ever One fifth to my daughter Ann the wife of John Bolton of Barrowford and her heirs for ever One fifth to Susannah daughter of my wife Ann or Nanny and wife of Joseph Hargreaves of Brierfield Marsden and her heirs for ever Also that no benefit be received by the above parties untill all the mortgage be cleared off And I appoint Thomas Sutcliffe of Burnley Wood joiner Joseph Hargreaves of Brierfield Marsden Draper John Hartley Fulshaw Farmer near Barrowford all in the County of Lancaster Executors of this my Will and I do revolt all other Will by me at any time heretofore made and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hearunto set my hand this twenty first day of May one thousand eight hundred and sixty two.

The Testator Henry Sutcliffe was late of Barrowford near Colne in the County of Lancaster Shopkeeper and died on the sixteenth day of January 1871 at Barrowford aforesaid.

The thirteenth day of July 1846 Susy Sutcliffe of Cockeridge within Briercliffe, widow, and John Greenwood of High Sim within Briercliffe aforesaid in the Parish of Whalley and County of Lancaster Weaver the Executors in this will named were sworn in common form, and they further made oath that the Personal Estate and effects within the Diocese of Chester were under the value of 200£
