my grandfather Cooper came to Lancashire in 1899, married a Bannister and stayed until he died in 1946, so I have living relations in the County.

I noticed you have connections with Yates family from Chorley. I have been doing some research on my friends Yates family from Chorley in 1800s. Maybe we could swap info.

yes would love to. Where have you got to with your friend's Yates.
Mine go back to John Yates born Chorley abt 1820, he was the son of Thomas Yates.
John married Jane Marshall (from Scotland) in Leyland 28th Sept 1840.

My friend's family start with Margaret Alice Yates b @ 1868 Coppull, Nr Chorley, she married William Pilkington b 1868 Chorley. Margaret's parents were John Yates b @ 1843 Chorley and Deborah Baxendale b @ 1845 Chorley area, they were married 1868. John Yates parents were Thomas Yates b @ 1817 Chorley and Margaret, b 1818 Chorley (maiden name possibly Miller). MArgaret supposedly remarried Matthew Parkinson in 1860s but there is no record of their marriage. Don't know if it is the same family, but heres hoping.

I wonder if your friends Thomas Yates born abt 1817 was the brother of my John Yates born abt 1820, both being the son of another Thomas. I haven't done much on this line so don't know anything about any more children for Thomas, or siblings for John. You have now sparked my interest so I will see what I can find.

Just another point, two of mine, John abt 1820 and his son Yates Yates b1845 were boilermakers.
