A BRIERCLIFFE WEDDING.
A pretty wedding took place on Saturday afternoon at St. James’s Church, Briercliffe, the contracting parties being Mr. Willie Tattersall and Miss Emily Smith, both of Parker-street, Briercliffe. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. R. P. Newton, vicar. Mr. Willie Holden presided at the organ.
The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr. Willie Philip Smith, was attired in a dress of lavender silk crepe de chine trimmed with silver lace. She wore a black hat, and carried a bouquet of lilies. She was attended by her sister, Miss Edith Smith, who wore a lemon crepe de chine dress, with black hat, and carried a bouquet of mauve tulips. There were four junior bridesmaids, the Misses Marion and Muriel Whittaker, who were attired in blue silk Moracain; Miss Marjorie Whittaker, in lemon crepe de chine (nieces of the bride); and Miss Doris Duerden (cousin), who wore a dress of white net. All wore Dutch hats and carried bunches of roses. The best man was Mr. Tom Tattersall, brother of the bridegroom, the groomsman being Mr. Eddie Smith.
Tea was served at Graves’s Café, and the guests afterwards adjourned to the Briard? de Band Institute, where the rest of the evening was devoted to dancing etc.
