Limbs of Brackenfield, Derbyshire.
Tickles of Manchester. In particular I'm stuck with William Tickle, born 1821 in Manchester. In 1852 he was living in Wollaston, Staffs with wife Sarah and sons John & Francis. I completely lose track of the whole family after that with the exception of Francis who turns up again in Manchester in 1875.

Could this be them in 1851, the Fickle could easily be Tickle.
Name Age
John Fickle 1 Mo
Sarah Fickle 28
Willm Fickle 30
Elizth Millon 22
15, Porter St, Chorlton-on-Medlock, Lancashire
William was, what looks like a glass cutter.

Yes Gloria, that's them. It's the only census I ever found William on. I think I already reported the transcription error to Ancestry.
John was born 1850 in Manchester. Francis was born 18/12/52 at Sproat's Row Wollaston Staffs. There was a glass factory nearby which is why I suspect they went.
I have Francis (under Pickle/ Fickle/ Tickle) in censuses 1881 to his death in 1914. But no signs of the others.
Since Francis and William are in my direct line of ascent, any other children of William & Sarah are only peripheral to my tree but it's one of those nagging loose ends I keep going back to.
I have Francis's marriage cert (Manchester 1875) but the address he gave seems likely to have been his bride's. Certainly the other Tickles aren't on that street in the censuses either side of the marriage date. William isn't shown as being deceased, but that isn't necessarily conclusive is it?
So I don't know whether Francis came back to Manchester on his own, or whether the whole family came.
This bit of my tree's a bit like a scab - I can't stop picking at it!
