The title 'The Briercliffe Society' was clickable on the old forum and took you to the main site. I have been unable to make this clickable since the upgrade though I haven't given up yet....or should I say I haven't given up nagging at Lyndon and Kev to help me. Lyndon had a look at restyling the board last night but we were due to go out so he couldn't give it much time. Anyway, it's not as simple as it was with the old one and isn't just a case of importing styles as we had hoped. When he does the styling, he'll also do the links.
In the meantime you can either delete everything after co.uk in the address bar or open a new window and start again.

The other thing I have spotted that annoys me is that when you click a link within the forum (to either the Society site or an external site) it does not open in a new window. This is driving me nuts. To open in a new window you need to right-click the link and selct 'open in new window' (or tab).

Senior moment Gloria?

It's that thing that Roger told us about but I cannot remember what it was. We had a discussion about it on here either earlier this year or the back end of last year.

Was it a cobblers or something like that?

Can't remember, but why would there be a box on the wall outside a cobblers?

Am I looking too far along. Do you mean centre-right, the box there?

The box on the right, on the low roofed building, loks like a bin. There is something poking out of the top of it. It is hard to tell.

Yes, right on the right hand side of the pic, nearly half way up.

But that doesn't tell me what the box is---or am I missing something?
I have blown it up, put my glasses on and I still can't figure it out, except it looks very ornate and the thing sticking out of it looks like a black cat!!!!!

Got it, don't know where the first one went. We have had our magnifying glass on it, don't think it is a waste bin. It looks quite modern, with some ornate pattern on the front, on the side as you look at it is a round handle type of thing. It reminds me of one of those clocking in machines they used to have in factories, but it can't be one if those. It definitely looks as though something is stuffed on the top, and that the inside is seperated into slits (thats the easiest way to describe it). Don't know what the other white thing is on the top. Do we know if that building was definitely the cobblers? No not the cobblers, that is under the shoe sign near the cross roads. There aren't any other pics which show it. It would be where the bus stop is now.

The mind boggles! I wonder if the building will be on the 1901 census? It was Edmondsons Row wasn't it?
