John born about 1833 in Briercliffe. First wife was Eliza Riding. Died in 1885 in Fall River, MA, USA

Thank you for sending all your information. I do not see a connection either.

However, the headstone information that you sent is definitely part of my
family Daniel Burrows is the older brother of my John Burrows and Ann and
Elizabeth are his sisters. The headstone gave me their married names which
I had not had.

I have a family story that I am hoping may connect me to some Burrows family.
During WWII my father was a US soldier and spent some time in England. He visited a relative in England (he could never remember the name). This relative was on his mother's side so it was either a Burrows or a Riley. He remembers taking a long train ride and going to dinner at their house. Times
were very tough and when the family sat down to dinner, the only thing anyone had to
ear was a hard boiled egg. My father felt he couldn't eat what little food they had so he
quickly left.

I had seen that Giles and John Burrows lived next door to each other in the
1841 census and also thought that they might be related. However, I have
no idea the names of my John Burrows' parents. If I could find the marriage
certificate for John and Betty Burrows, I might find his father's name. I am
not sure where to look for that.

Thank you for sending all the census data. iIhad most of my John's family, but it is nice
to have it all on one page. I had not followed up on Giles's family so it is nice
to have that data for future reference.

John and Betty’s first child was born 1823 so I imagine their marriage would have been at St. Peter’s, Burnley. Unfortunately the early marriages do not state the parents name so you would have to look for the christening.

Would anyone be able to look for both the christening and marriage?

Ann, I got this information from Genes Reunited so I am not certain it is correct.

John Burrows was born at Briercliffe, 1802 and he married Elizabeth Redman also born at Briercliffe, 1802.

The marriage was at St. Peter’s, Burnley, 9/12/1822 (I don’t know if this is British or US format, 9 December 1822 or 12 September 1822).

John and Elizabeth had the following children.

Daniel Burrows married Mary Smith / Latham
Ann Burrows married Ainsworth Isherwood, 1861
John Burrows
Thomas Burrows
Elizabeth Burrows married Adam Bridge, 1863
William Burrows
Henry Burrows

Gloria, I contacted someone who had John Burrows, 1802 in their tree and they opened it for my perusal.

I went back through some old stuff and found a groom index for St. Peter's which someone had
sent to me in the year 2000. John Burrows and Elizabeth Redman were listed there, but I had
not gotten back far enough then to recognize them as a possibility.

After reading one of the above postings, I have subscribed to Genes Reunited to see if
I can connect with other Burrows (and other relatives) in my line.

This forum has been a wonderful help to me in my search for Burrows.
