I would eventually like to see transcriptions of Parish Registers for the various Brierclffe churches under this category.
In the meantime, if anyone has any snippets of church records (even single baptisms or marriages that they would like to post, they would be most welcome.
Thanks

Haggate Baptist is of course transcribed into the 1850s (I did about half of it, about 20 years ago). Copy in Burnley Library and elsewhere.

Thanks Rex. I have the fiche for Haggate Baptist registers.
It will probably be a while before I can get around to such a huge project. I want to concentrate on the fine tuning of the site to begin with. I also have the census transcription underway but it does all take time.

I'm thinking I could do the parish transcriptions a little like the census and have them searchable by surname and/or forename. As I said, quite a way off yet!

Rex, were the marriage records for Haggate Baptist Chapel transcribed? When I bought a copy a few years ago, only births and burials were available. Just wondering if the exist.

No, I never saw a marriage register. The chapel would not be licensed for marriages I guess until a fairly late date. They probably have a current one, which may go back to the start !

John Bentley will know, I can give you his contact details if need be.

Thanks Rex.
Would this be the same John Bentley who is on The Briercliffe Society committee? If so, I should see him on Wednesday at the Society meeting, I'll ask him then.
I have enough to be getting on with in the meantime.

I have done a few updates this last couple of days to the church records database. Annie29750 kindly sent me her Nutter records. The marriages and burials are now online. I am working on the baptisms. Thought it worth a mention as I think we have one or two Nutter researchers who frequent the site.

I will (not) make the obvious comment about us all being Nutters on here.
