I have a death which accorded at the above address but know the deceased to have lived elsewhere. Kris has also produced a will giving the above address as place of death but with somewhere else being the usual abode.

I am visiting Burnley on Saturday for a week my sister in law lives near the hospital so I will have a look on Briercliffe Road.If anybody wants me to find anything out let me know (within reason and legal) !!. Sues.

I think that 118 Briercliffe Road is the address for the hospital the newsagents after the hospital is 120 also managed to visit Haggate Cemetery which I thought looked well maintained despite the horrible weather! Sues.

"118 Briercliffe Road was part of Burnley Union Workhouse. As your grandfather was not living at this address, I think it must have been the Infirmary which was part of the Workhouse. This complex later became Burnley General Hospital, now modernised and enlarged".

Sorry, just joined today and you probably know the answer to this one already...but...
I had the same problem when I found this address on my grandfather's death certificate for 1930. Living in Australia it wasn't possible to check it out in person so I contacted the Burnley library. One of the lovely ladies there supplied me with the above information from the library.
