My grandmother's parents (the father an 'artisan', perhaps, having a business as a clogger in Bury) thought she was marrying beneath herself, my grandfather being an relatively unskilled cotton worker. Maybe though his parents thought he was getting a good catch !

4 of my g'grandparents were born in Salford to Irish parents, who left Ireland in the late 1830s/ early 1840s.
I think that makes me half-blood Irish?
