Died On Sunday last, at the Chapel House, aged 41, the Rev. Wm. Robertshaw, the deservedly-esteemed minister of Ebenezer Baptist Chapel, Burnley-lane, Burnley. Mr. Robertshaw was principally self-taught, and his literary attainments were but limited; but he was well read in the Holy Scriptures, and could rightly "divine the word of truth." He was, moreover, humble-minded and sincere, and being "rooted in faith and grounded in love," after having escaped from the deceitful wiles of scepticism and infidelity, in which he had been entangled during the earlier years of his life, he became a truly practical and plain preacher of the gospel, and a useful and painstaking pastor. We need scarcely add that his end was peace. He has left a wife and seven children to deplore his loss, and Mrs. Robertshaw is expecting to be shortly confined. Under these circumstances, a subscription has been set on foot to relieve the present wants of the family (none of the children being able to work), and members of the Established Church, and of various other religious denominations, have already very liberally subscribed.
