Mr R.A.Haighton

The interment took place on Friday at Colne Cemetery of Mr. Robert Arnold Haighton, who, as stated in our last issue, died at his home, 3 Maryville Road, Brierfield, on the previous Tuesday.
Forty-seven years of age, Mr. Haighton was a native of Nelson, and for many years was in business in the cotton trade in Manchester. During the last three years, however, he had been a member of the firm of Messrs. Haighton, clothiers, Colne.
Almost throughout the Great War, Mr. Haighton served with the East Lancashire Regiment, gaining a commission in 1918. In France he suffered many terrible experiences, and these were believed to have had an adverse effect on his health, which broke down soon after his return to civil life, and continued to be a constant source of trouble. He leaves a widow, who is a daughter of Mr. J.H. Heap, a former Mayor of Burnley, and one daughter, with whom much sympathy is felt.
Floral tributes were received from:-His sorrowing Wife and Daughter; Ivy and Kathleen; Frank Austin (Burleydam); Gladys and Willie; Auntie Cissie and Edith; Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Crossley; Mr. and Mrs. T.P Witney; "The Croft" Colne; all at "Fairfield"; Harry and Nellie (Didsbury); Mr. Harrison (Brierfield); H.C.
