Thank you for admitting me to this group. I grew up in Burnley but my grandmother (Elsie Lancaster) lived most of her life on Briercliffe Road, Harle Syke until she died in 1993. She lived opposite, and was good friends with, Mrs. Edith Holgate, who wrote poems in the local dialect. I believe these were once published by this society (?) One of the poems ('Mrs Lancaster') was about my grandmother and mentions me and her other grandchildren. I have lived overseas in the Middle East and in Asia since 2007 but will return in a few more years. I have always been interested in local history so I appreciate the opportunity to read your posts. I may have little to contribute myself but I am sure I will learn a great deal here.
