Hi. I have Pollards from Briercliffe, Burnley areas in my tree. They orginated from Marsden if that is any help:

In Affectionate remembrance of
William POLLARD
of Lane Head
Who departed this life December 23rd 1881
In the 72nd year of his age
Also Mary the beloved wife of the above
Who departed this life June 30th
1888 In the 78th year of her age
Also Elizabeth POLLARD
Who died December 4th 1876
Aged 40 years
also Mary Ann daughter of the above
Named William POLLARD
Who died July 4th 1911 aged 72 years
Also Henry
The beloved husband of
Mary Jane POLLARD
Who died October 30th 1928
Aged 63 years

If anyone can assist I have found a possible birth for William but not sure:
possible birth:
Baptism: 10 Sep 1809 St Bartholomew, Colne, Lancashire, England
William Pollard - Son of Robert Pollard & Mary
Born: 29 May 1809
Abode: Bradley
Occupation: Weaver
Register: Baptisms 1790 - 1812, Page 265, Entry 22
Source: LDS Film 1471024

There is also a possible marriage for parents but again not sure as registered in Colne? Marriage: 6 Oct 1808 St Bartholomew, Colne, Lancashire, England
Robert Pollard - Weaver of Reedley Hollows extra parochial place
Mary Shaw - (X), of Colne
Witness: Richard Smith; Matthew Pollard
Married by Banns by: W.Wilkinson Ass. Curate
Notes: [These details were entered in the entry above and crossed out]
Register: Marriages 1805 - 1812, Page 103, Entry 61
Source: LDS Film 1471065

I found a Robert Pollard abt 1881 on the 1851 census residing Hartley Houses, Little Marsden born Filly Close, Lancashire. But yet again, not sure as the only William with him on there is a grandson age 5 months:

1851 Residing 89 Hartley Houses, Little Marsden:
Robert Pollard (Wid) age abt 70 Steam Weaver born Filly Close, Lancashire
James (son) unmarried age abt 32 Weaver born Marsden
Sarah (daug) unmarried ahe abt 24 Weaver born Marsden
Margaret (grandaughter) age abt 5 born Marsden
William (grandson) age abt 5 months born Marsden.

at 92 Hartley Houses:
Robert Pollard age abt 38 born Marsden
Elizabeth (wife) age abt 37 born Briercliffe
William Pollard age abt 5 born Marsden
James Smith (son) age abt 6 born Burnley

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks.
K

Hi K, welcome to the site.

I wouldn't discount Colne for these events. I have one family who travelled to Colne for a couple of baptisms in the early 1800's.

Can anyone say were Bradley is/was? It rings a bell but I cannot place it.
