My gt-grandfather WATSON survived two wives, and married a third time.....to a childhood sweetheart. He is said to have commented that he could have saved a lot of fuss and bother by marrying wife number three in the first place !

Anyway, I descend from wife number two.

His own grandfather married three times, surviving all of them !

My 3Xgt grandfather married twice and had children with two other women, my gt grandfather married three times, his son (my grandfather) married twice, and his son (my father) married twice. These Kippax men liked a bit of variety.

My 2x Great Grandmother Julia Richards Toy married 3 times, her 1st Husband Thomas Simpson was my 2x Great Grandfather and on his death certificate the cause of death was given as "probable inflamation of the stomach" less than a month after his death she married number 2 George Ebeneezer Evans who died in July 1896 and in September the same year she moved onto number 3 James William Ashworth who died in 1907.
It would be interesting to see copies of her other two husbands death certificates to see what the cause of death was!

My mothers late cousin in New Zealand appears to have been competing with Elizabeth Taylor, she had 7 husbands and 1 child??

The men all died of ? accidental death or illness, Midsommer Murders down under??

7 husbands----crikey---would be interesting to know how old they were. She may have married "old" men, hence the only one child.

I think they were all her age (at the time) but the family says she was a bit of an embarressment, never mind, the local undertaker and florist must have been glad she lived in their town?

She probably did well out of wedding presents , if everyone could keep up with her,

Do we know her age when she married each time and the year?

No I'm afraid they only mentioned her career as a 'bride' when they sent the info.

P.P.S. I had forgotten the clues that I do have.

The lady in question (died in 1990) was Margaret, maiden name Eastwood.

She was born in Harle Syke at Jubilee St, her brother was Maurice and they were the children of Ben and Susannah Eastwood.

Susannah's father was John Banks, who's family appeared to have been Sykers for quite sometime and at least three generations were tailors/

John and his wife Margaret have a headstone on your web page.

Margaret married in Tasmania ( the family emigrated in 1922) but she moved to New Zealand to continue her life and many marriages.

I just messaged you about this lady.
I have been researching her as she was my husband's grandmother that he never knew.
I only know of her first 2 children born to the first husband ( my husband's grandfather)
I be grateful of any info on the Eastwoods and Banks Families.
BTW, I can't see where the grave of John & Margaret Banks is located on this website, so can you help me out there.

My husband's grandmother married only once but had children by two other men besides.

The first man we know nothing about. She had one child by him when she was 21. The second one (according to family legend) was a soldier who had his friend pretend to be a parson and marry them. I think this is probably a bit fanciful but I never have found a marriage for them. When she finally did get married she showed her status as 'spinster'.
Anyway she was with him for at least 6 years and had 6 children by him. She used his surname on the birth certificates for all of them.
I've never traced him so I don't know what happened to him but she eventually married my husband's grandfather and went on to have another 5 children.
Family legend also had it that she bumped him off - but I think that's probably a bit faniciful as well.

Didn't we once have a thread about a woman who married a succession of soldiers, who all died quite quickly thereafter?
