Taken from LFHHS yahoo forum

I have just found the information about the Chartist land company subscribers in Colne. It came from www.chartists.net/Colne-landsubs.htm
There is a list of people who signed, plus their occupation, and their address eg Lawrence Baldwin, weaver, Dubbing Row, Nr Colne.
All those who signed are not weavers, there is a coal heaver, shoemaker, shop keeper etc. But one is a whitesmith - I wonder what that is?

Thanks Gloria. Will take a look.

I'm sure it has been responded to on the Yahoo forum but just an fyi...

Whitesmith - A person who worked with "white" or light-coloured metals such as tin and pewter. Whitesmiths fabricated items such as tin or pewter cups, water pitchers, forks, spoons, and candle holders, possibly also in the clothing industry, making or finishing buckles, buttons etc.
