Been to The Burnley and District Historical Society meeting today at St Peter's. Had a really good time, never been to one of these do's before, myself and a pal have really enjoyed ourselves. Spent more than I wanted, but never mind got some smashing literature.
Talking to Roger Frost, he was on good form, such a knowledgable bloke, he gave me a couple of freebies as he could not change a fiver. He hopes his book A Lancashire Township will be ready in the New Year, the printers that are doing it are going out of business or something, but they will get the book done.
Everyone was so friendly and helpful, organisers and visitors alike, grand lot arnt they these family history folk, I think it is because we all have so much in common. The bells were ringing at the church when we arrived, we thought we had got it wrong and it was'nt being held there, we were frightened of opening the door in case a wedding was in progress

But they said the bells were ringing to welcome us all. Finished off with a nosey around the churchyard before it got too dark. Beautiful church St Peter's have'nt been inside for ages, I was confirmed there by the Bishop of Burnley, many years ago.
