I'm going to attempt this one I think. Lyndon will be working again and probably won't even notice I'm gone.
I have added the details here
http://www.briercliffesociety.co.uk/Eve ... lendar.htm

Are you going Gloria?

I'm hoping to. I believe Bob Dobson is going to be there with his book stall, so no doubt money will change hands.
It's worth going just to see Astley Hall, you either love or hate it, I love it Other Half hates it.

OK, it would be nice to put another face to a name having spoken to him a couple of times now.

I'd like to. I need to speak to my friend, she's never been to anything like this before and I think she would enjoy it. She only started researching earlier this year and we have interests in a few similar areas - enough to warrant trips to various record offices anyway.

Quite a coincidence there too - her husband (who has been a friend of Lyndon's for 20+ years, I didn't know them until I hooked up with him) turns out to be a distant rellie of mine. His 3 Gt grandmother was the sister of my 3x Gt gandfather!

I'll be there. Looking forward to it. My friend can't make it so it's just mum and I. Maureen, are you going to be able to go? I'm meeting witch 1 for a brew while there.

Not sure what our plans are for the weekend yet, but I'll let you know beforehand.

Met up with Gloria today. The interior of Astley Hall is fantastic though it is a little disappointing that so many doors are locked off. I didn't like the front entrance to the building, I thought it looked quite ugly.

There were quite a few stalls there, also a man talking about DNA. I'm still not convinced about DNA genealogy. I do now see and understand how the connections are made with another person but I still want a paper trail to show the connections and common ancestor something these tests do not show.

Thing is Mel, a piece of paper's only as good as the person who wrote on it. Whereas yer dna . . .

But I'm not satisfied with matching a few markers with someone being able to tell me that we are related. I want to know how. Hasn't DNA been bought into question in some criminal trials lately?
