I know this isn't in the area but it may be of interest to someone. You never know where your rellies will bob up.
The Earby & Distrct Local History Society are having a joint "find your ancestors" event with Earby Library on Saturday 25th October at the Library. Transcripts of Thornton Parish Registers will be available for look ups on the day, as well as info on Earbys textile heritage.

I'm miffed about this. At the minute I'm doing my future daughter-in law's tree and most of hers are from that area. But I'll be on holiday.
Poor do when your holidays get in the way of your treeing.

Again this is not in the Briercliffe area but if anyone is interested I have the Craven Indexes CD by Josie Walsh. It covers such areas as Kildwck, Skipton Sutton in Craven etc.

Southampton to Barbados via Tenerife, St Lucia, Antigua, St Maarten & Dominica (tho not necessarily in that order). A whole 9 days at sea with nothing to do 'cept what I want to. Waited on hand & foot, 6-course dinners and g&t on the balcony whilst the sun goes down. Can't wait.

Oh if you haven't been on a horse in years then you are going to ache. Obviously the rest of the day in the spa getting some massage treatment, and obviously with a G&T. Enjoy, I envy you. We have only done one cruise and loved it. Last year with R. Caribbean. Hope to do more, probably next year when we decide where. Don't really fancy loads of days "at sea", don't mind the odd one but that's about it.

Thanks for those kind words of reassurance! Maybe I should take a cushion?

It's not a cushion you'll need, it's something to relieve the "bowlegged" feeling in the inner thighs. Have fun.

Have fun Maureen!
I remember when I first started riding. Fantastic but boy was I in agony afterwards. Mind you, not as much agony as when I fell off a few years ago. Now that did hurt, I got straight back on at the time but haven't tried since. My confidence was completely shattered and though we thought my hip was broken, the x-ray showed it as bruised badly. Couldn't walk well for quite some time afterwards.

How can someone tell you to have fun and then relate a tale like that? I know I haven't been around a lot this last couple of weeks, but I did think we were still friends.
Anyway, I'll ignore the story and take the good wishes in the spirit they were probably meant! :D

They don't let me on donkeys any more, something to do with elf n safety. (the donkey's, not mine)

Still friends Maureen - when I think of riding, I think of my tumble. The two go hand in hand I'm afraid.
