DISTRICT NEWS.
BRIERCLIFFE
HAGGATE READING ROOMS.- The annual concert was held in the Haggate Baptist School on Saturday, when there was a fair attendance. The artistes were: Miss Sarah Crook, Miss Marion Bailey, and Mr. W. Walton, all from Blackpool; Mr. Leonard Dyson, Nelson; dialect reciter, Mr. P. Halstead, Colne; and accompanist, Mr. J. Polton, Nelson.
INDEPENDENT METHODIST CHURCH. – A tea and concern were held on Saturday, and a good programme was rendered by: - Boy soprano, Master W. Tatham, Nelson; tenor, Mr. S. Moore, Burnley; bass, Mr. F. Phillips, Briercliffe; and elocutionist, Mr. Davies, Burnley. A sketch was given by the young men, entitled, “Election of M.P. for the Borough of Tweedledum.”
Parkinson’s Baking Powder- 14 prize medals. Parkinson’s Custard Powder is delicious.
